I don’t know how common the Brown Cuckoo-Dove is in Eurobodalla but it is new to me. This one appeared in our garden this morning and flew onto the verandah to have a closer look at us.
Hi Roman – they are listed in "Nature in Eurobodalla 2013" as an uncommon breeding resident and bird of passage. A beautiful bird and very common at the birdbaths on our bush block. I counted 34 on Monday picking at the finch mix (a couple of cups) I put out. Usually 10 – 20 most mornings. They do become habituated and you can walk amongst them. The Wongas that come are more wary but I have seen them habituated to close conact in Barrington Tops National Park. Finch mix is of zero interest to any parrots that visit us.
