Field meetings are held twice monthly from February to November, usually on the second Saturday and fourth Sunday of the month. They provide an opportunity for members to meet with one another, develop skills in identifying various aspects of the natural environment, and discover the local area. While birds are a focus, the interests of the group include mammals, insects, reptiles, frogs, plants and fungi.
Visitors and prospective members are welcome to attend field meetings. Saturday meetings start at 2pm and generally finish between 4 and 4.30pm. Sunday meetings start at 9am and finish around lunch time.

A grade of difficulty for each planned walk and an estimate of distance is given in the program. This is intended as an aid to deciding whether a walk is within your capabilities.
What to bring to field meetings? Binoculars, water, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. As some meetings involve long walks and tracks can be uneven, it is suggested that good walking shoes are worn. Sunday meetings generally finish with lunch and a chat, so bring some food and a chair.
Participants at each field meeting are asked to sign an Acknowledgement of Risks and Obligations Form, indicating that they accept responsibility for their participation in the activity. View or download Acknowledgement of Risks and Obligations Form
